McAllen Nature Center
March-July 2018
Located in the Rio Grande Valley, the McAllen Nature Center is where I began my conservation career. Amidst increasing human development, this nature center preserves 33 acres of native Tamaulipan Thornscrub.
Scope of work: trail maintenance, interpretive hikes, irrigation installation, native plant propagation.







Bastrop State Park
September 2018
Texas State Park in the Lost Pines ecoregion. Dominated by Loblolly pine. The park was significantly burned in the 2011 Bastrop Complex Fire, affecting 96% of the park, leaving thousands of standing dead trees and the need for trail reroutes and hazard mitigation work.
Scope of work: Trails training with a Conservation and Disaster Crew of the Texas Conservation Corps. Trail reroute using hand tools: McLeods, mattocks, shovels. Rockwork.

A Travis County park located in the Highland Lakes Region of Central Texas. The park boasts over 9 miles of shoreline and 11 miles of trail within its 1,368 acres.
Scope of work: Saw training. Pruning cuts and felling practice. Target species Ashe Juniper.
